 | The ED continues to provide commitment to the ongoing partnership with the

 | There continues to be recognition and support for the ED Consumer Advocacy
Group. |
 | Meaningful consultation is undertaken with the wider community in regard
to the planned ED redevelopment. |
 | The ED Triage Assistant position currently assigned to the evening shift
is expanded to include a morning position. |
 | There is ongoing support for the Carer’s Card initiative (following the
planned evaluation) with a view to expansion of the card to other Emergency
Departments. |
 | The ED initiates consultations with the community to provide an improved
understanding of ED procedures through the use of culturally appropriate
pamphlets and signage for patients attending the ED. |
 | The ED explores opportunities to raise community awareness and
understanding of the department through the local media and through the
development of materials such as the video teacher package, the distribution
of pamphlets and the use of the community information board. |
 | The ED remains responsive to community needs identified through the ED
Advocacy Group, individual letters and comments recorded from the suggestion
box. |
 | Ongoing cultural awareness training for ED staff is incorporated into the
ED training program and opportunities provided to staff to attend specific
workshops. |
 | The ED supports closer working relationships with local GP’s with the
development of initiatives to improve communication, referral and address
other issues identified by local GP’s. |
 | The ED develop further partnerships with community service providers,
particularly through their participation in the ED training program and the
development of joint initiatives. |
 | The ED provides regular feedback to ED staff regarding community
consultations and invites staff response in the development of new
initiatives to meet identified community needs. |
