Goal and Objectives

In establishing the project the following goal, objectives and key indicators of the project were developed.

Goal:

The goal of the project was to improve the quality of care provided by Lyell McEwin Hospital acute care services through the establishment of links between the Emergency Department (ED), consumers of health services and community based health organisations.

Objectives:

The objectives of the project are:

	To enhance community awareness of the role of the Emergency Department.
	To identify and respond to community needs (including minority groups) in relation to the Emergency Department at the Lyell McEwin Health Service.
	To increase communication between the Emergency Department, community healthcare organisations and providers and the wider community by establishing a framework.
	To improve continuity of health care between the Emergency Department, community health organisations and providers and interest groups through collaboration and coordination between services.

To improve the level of consumer participation in the planning and decision making of coordinated care delivered by the Lyell McEwin Emergency Department.
